>A more detailed guide in German about how to access HRT in belgian as a foreigner

21.02.2024 - I just started HRT!!!!

After a long time of thinking and going back and forth and eventually finally finding out that this is really what I want to do I went to belgium with a bloodtest and got myself a prescription for Estrogel with the help of genres pluriels.

The laws in my country make it incredibly difficult to get any gender-affirming healthcare and basically impossible if you aren't transbinary. Belgium in comparrison feels like heaven! Being trans isn't considered a mental illness and you don't have to go get a diagnosis for "transsexualism" and go through years of therapy and proof that you aren't faking it or that you aren't a pedophile or any of these horrible horrible things. I just went and made an appointment with genre pluriels to get a document, that shows that I am informed of the (side)effects of taking HRT. No prooving that I'm trans or anything, just a videocall where you can ask all the questions and get everything officially explained. (This appointment only costs arround 10€ btw and there are options to get it compensated when you are in a bad financial situation.) With this letter in my hand, I went and made an appointment with a transfriendly doctor, got a bloodtest done back in my country and boom! Titty slime aquired!

The reason I'm writing this here is, that I felt really overwhelmed by the discriminatory laws in my country (germany) and I know that the situation isn't much better in many other places. I had a wonderful friend who helped me out and who suggested me to go to belgium and helped me get into contact with other transgender people to figure everything out. For me Belgium was a great option and I wouldn't have discovered it on my own so I want to share this with ya'll if you are in a similar situation.
I aknowledge though, that this can be very hard to do, as not everyone can just take a train to brussels. I don't yet know what / if anything my insurance will covert too. The doctors appointment cost me about 40€ and the 2 boxes of estradiol (enough for about half a year) set me back another 50-ish-€. But I know there's also things like "hormone boxes" where people with oversized prescriptions donate some of their hormones (this sounds so weird) so that may be an option too.

So anyways I just applied my first dose of estrogen and I don't see any boobs yet and it's allready been like 5 minutes?!

1.03.2024 - first week on E

Ngnl not much has happened... like nothing at all. Some people online said you should always start with a lower dose and slowly increase till you reach your target because the sudden shock from a different hormone household could lead to crazy side effects but I've been too lazy / impatient to do that and I can't say that it has affected me in any way. I feel the same as usual pretty much, just that I can always look forwards for 7pm estrogen time (I decided to do it daily at 7pm couz its my most convenient / least busy time).

Actually one thing has happened! The day I started hormones my instagram feed got a bit weird and I've gotten a bunch of pickle related reels ?!?! I've heard that pickle craving can be a side effect of spirio couz it makes you pee alot so your body wants to replenish salt but I don't even like pickles? Like its gotten to a point where 50% of my feed is cat videos and the other 50% is just pickle stuff?!?!!?!?! I don't get it. I don't really know what I'm on about so I'll go take a nap, take care ya'll!
